On Saturday, July 10, 2021, the Blue Guardian Foundation hosted its annual gala on the 15th floor of the Oak Cliff Tower. The 2021 Gala’s chairperson, Elvie De La Fuente, Jr., has a son who is a Senior Corporal with the Dallas Police Department and it was important for her to serve those in law enforcement who serve us every day. Jim Lake Companies’ own Amanda Moreno-Lake and Rene’ Lopez served as the Co-Chairs for the 2021 Gala and several staff members from JLC were also part of the committee. The guests enjoyed a 1920’s themed gala along with a 3-course meal, music, dancing and a speakeasy area. The speakeasy included live music, specialty cocktails, and a cigar roller. The Guests of Honor for the evening were Randy Travis and his wife, Mary. The emcee for the event was none other than Chris Arnold, the only journalist ever inducted into the Texas Black Sports Hall of Fame. The Gold level Sponsors for the event included: Advanced Dallas Hospital and Clinics, the Dallas Mavericks, Encore Bank, GAF Roofing and Jim Lake Companies. District Attorney John Creuzot, several City Council members, and law enforcement officers from Dallas, Fort Worth and Corpus Christi were also in in attendance. The Keynote Speaker for the evening was Chief Albert Martinez and the Blue Guardian Foundation received a Declaration of Proclamation from State Representative Victoria Neave. All proceeds from the Gala directly benefited the Blue Guardian Foundation, which helps provide financial assistance to law enforcement officers and their families who have suffered catastrophic injuries or the loss of life or income due to a serious injury or life-threatening illness. We would like to thank everyone who attended, all those who donated in various ways, and of course the Blue Guardian Foundation Gala Committee for making this event possible. We will see you next year for the 2022 Gala!
