Jim Lake, Sr. — Founder of Jim Lake Companies
After a successful career with IBM, Jim entered the real estate business and in 1964 he formed Jim Lake Companies and built the first office/warehouse in Plano. Over the years he developed over 2,000,000 square feet of office and office/warehouse space in Dallas. Jim had a generous heart and an incredible work ethic, and his greatest joy was giving back to his community, such as a Founding member of the Dallas Aboretum and Chairman of the Dallas County Appraisal District. Jim received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree in 1998 from Northwood University in recognition of his outstanding service to Dallas. As President of the Dallas Parks Foundation, he partnered with Trammell Crow to conceive and develop city property into Pioneer Plaza, the internationally acclaimed largest outdoor bronze sculpture in the U.S. In 2005 he was inducted to the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors “Hall of Fame.”

A Native Dallasite, Jim Lake, Jr. graduated from Baylor University in 1981 with a BBA in Real Estate and began his career that same year as a Commercial Real Estate Broker and entered the real estate development business at Jim Lake Companies in 1985. After weathering the commercial real estate recession of the late 1980’s, he co- founded Jim Lake, Inc. Realtors in 1991, and later Jim Lake Partners, LLC, to focus on acquisitions of existing buildings and specialize in adaptive urban redevelopment, building on the company’s experience of creating Bishop Arts District in North Oak Cliff.As his acquisitions grew, and the Dallas Design District matured, Jim Lake Companies has become a leader in Adaptive Urban Redevelopment with pioneering projects such as Trinity Loft, the first residential and mixed use project in the Design District; International on Turtle Creek, a 158,000 sf. repurposed parts warehouse into a Design Center; Jefferson Tower, an entire city block of historic buildings JLC completed in 2015; Waxahachie Town Square redevelopment, and the upcoming Ambassador Hotel redevelopment in Downtown Dallas. While Jim was coaching over 40 little league teams for his 4 children, he found time to serve on the University Park Board of Adjustment, and is currently serving on the boards of the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, as well as Chairman for the Stemmon’s Corridor Business Association. Jim was recently named as on of D CEO’S top 500 most powerful CEO’s in Dallas Fort-Worth.
B.H. "Mike" Morgan, Jr. — Partner
Mike holds a B.B.A in Real Estate and Marketing from Southern Methodist University and has over 45 years of experience in construction, leasing, management and development exceeding over 8 million square feet. Mike not only co-founded Jim Lake Company in 1976, he also co-founded Jim Lake, Inc. Realtors and is President of Lake-Morgan Construction Company and Jim Lake Management Company, Inc. In addition to his leadership within Jim Lake Companies, Mike served on the Commission to rezone the Dallas Design District (PD-621), the Trinity Trail Board, Dallas Design and Arts District Board and Trinity Commons Foundation Board. He is also Chairman of the Dallas Design District TIF Board. Prior to his real estate venture, Mike served in the United States Air Force with the 136th Air Refueling Wing Headquarters. He has also served as President of other boards such as the Dallas Charity Horse Show, Flame Soccer Club, and is active in his Church.
